Big Idea: We can trust God
Key Verse: Isaiah 26:4 Trust in the LORD forever, for the LORD, the LORD, is the Rock eternal.
Note to Parents: sometime this week talk as a family about what it means to trust in God. Talk through reasons of why God is trustworthy. Make a list and put it in a place (like the refrigerator) where the family will constantly see it. Your challenge is to keep these characteristics of God the focus of the week for your family.
Initial Thoughts: God is trustworthy, because He is God. We have complete security in Him. For the children we must communicate a couple key characteristics of God and how those are trustworthy. He is in control. He has our best interest in mind. These are two examples that can be used. His sovereignty (control) is the biggest thing that causes us to trust Him. If He wasn't in control, then why trust Him? We have to keep this simple! God is in control and has our best interest in mind, therefore we can trust Him. Really, that simple! Illustrations from how God protected Israel and OT leaders (i.e. Moses, etc) would be great to use. David and Goliath could be a good story to use too. It seemed impossible for David to defeat Goliath, but David trusted God.
